Funeral Music

Choice of funeral music is probably the most commonly discussed aspect of funeral planning.

The songs we love reflect an aspect of our personality and passions or signify an important time in our lives, often key moments we have shared with those closest to us.

A true celebration of life should include the music that the deceased loved.

Here are some options to consider…

A recording of a favourite song  Popular or classical this is common now alongside or as an alternative to traditional hymns.

Live Choir  Whether you choose a traditional hymn or a gospel song a live choir can bring an uplifting energy to a ceremony.

Live Band  Depending on your tastes this may be a classical ensemble, a folk band, pop band, rock band, swing band. This is an option for a ceremony or a wake/gathering afterwards.

Live Soloist  A solo performer can help to create an intimate feel to the ceremony. This includes classical musicians such as a harpist, cellist, violinist or a piper. A solo acoustic guitar performance of a favourite can be very poignant.

Tribute Singer/Band  If you have been a lifelong fan of Elvis, Frank Sinatra or The Beatles, to name just a few, then a tribute band or artist is a perfect choice.

Karaoke Not an obvious choice but rising in popularity. Karaoke can give a focus and act as an icebreaker at a wake or gathering.

Disco For those who want a literal celebration of life and a happy, lively atmosphere to a post funeral gathering.
